Peek-A-Boo Umbrella
In the 1920s, San Francisco Bay Area photographer Albert Arthur Allen championed a genre new to photography: the female nude. While Allen regarded himself as an artist-photographer, his images of creamy nudes nonetheless landed him in criminal court, and, completely bankrupt by 1927, he was forced to close his studio business. He continued to work as commercial in-house photographer for naturist-nudist-organizations. Two of his images are silk-screened on the underside of this push-button, automatic open/close umbrella, while the ICP logo is screened on the reverse side.
