Course Description

This course will introduce beginners to the creative and
technical possibilities of photography and digital media.
Through demonstrations and hands-on sessions, students
will learn the basics of using cameras and imaging software
on a Macintosh computer to produce digital photographs.
Topics will include camera operation, shutter speed, aperture,
focal length, composition, uploading files, image
enhancement, and printing. Slide lectures on historical and
contemporary artwork will explore the aesthetics of photography,
and weekly assignments will build digital techniques.
All students must be familiar with the Macintosh computer
or they will be required to register for Macintosh Basics free
of charge. Photoshop will not be taught in this class.
NOTE: A digital SLR camera capable of shooting RAW files is required.
