Course Description

Co-taught by a photographer and writer, this workshop focuses on creating visual narratives using language and image. Students may work on a new or existing project exploring the performative, installation, digital media, and collaboration, and are asked to bring in texts, audio, interviews, images, and objects. Experimental approaches to artmaking are encouraged. The class looks at the work of other artists and writers interested in memory, history, identity, and the body. Students keep process journals so as to further develop concepts and observe working methods. A final project presentation may take the shape of a book, podcast, multimedia work, or performance. prerequisite: Photo II or portfolio review
